There are some facts about this type of flooring than one needs to be aware:

Always remember that carbonized strips are not just stained but they are the same color from the within too. This is because the bamboo strips are boiled and the sugar present inside caramelizes giving it the rich brown color. Once the bamboo is put through the boiling process it becomes softer than the natural ones by almost 30% and therefore more care needs to be given with regards to scratches and dents. In order to make the bamboo boards the manufacturers laminates them together either in a vertical or a horizontal format. At times the natural bamboo can be woven together with the carbonized ones to gives an appearance of tiger strips. In order to clean the flooring always remembers that no harmful and strong cleaned or scratch pads should be used. This will seriously harm the floor. Therefore if floor designing is on your mind and style and durability is what you are looking for then Carbonized Bamboo flooring is what you should opt for.

Technological Research Bring Commercial Epoxy Paint Into The Home

by Steve Feathers

In the recent past the application of high performance industrial epoxy flooring would easily be a 4-day project. At that rate the labor and material cost made it prohibitive to make a profit on a 500-750 square foot garage floor. However, with the introduction of high-tech coatings in the last few years, all that has changed.

Now it’s possible to have coatings in varying quality, from the one suitable for DIY flooring paints to first rate epoxies and polyurethanes. For years epoxy was the only product available. A high quality system was applied in numerous layers at the rate of one coat per day. The first coat of primer was followed by two coats of sand broadcast into each layer and finally a coat of industrial strength urethane was applied for finishing.

Then along came polyatomic & polyurethane coatings. Primarily Polysaccharides were developed as coatings for steel to prevent its corrosion. Their outstanding characteristics contributed to their other applications. Soon, they were known to have exceptionally good qualities enabling their application on concrete because of rapid curing properties. Whereas the application of industrial epoxy flooring demanded four days, multiple layers of this new material could be applied in just one day.

As the new rapid curing polyurethane challenged the use of epoxies, further developments with quick cure were caused. The rapid cure process opened up the largest untapped markets in home improvement. Now a homeowner can have their concrete floor surfaced by a professional who has made a business remodeling the garage. With the completion time of the project reduced from four to just a day or two, it has become profitable business for the contractor. The house owner benefits by way of having a high performing concrete flooring that is covered with the same material as is applied on large industrial floors. Internet has facilitated the professionals to contact homeowners who search online for such services.

The advent of the Internet has contributed to increased volume of business for garage flooring professionals. The entrepreneurs look to increased profits by exploiting Internet facilities and making use of high performance, rapid curing floor coatings. The homeowners on the other hand get quality materials and services at affordable prices, adding value to their homes.

Even during recession, this market is booming. It will not be wrong to mention that in fact recession has proven to be a blessing for the development of garage related business of remodeling. New buyers are cost conscientious and have found a remodeled garage a valuable use of space. A garage renovated by use of industrial epoxy flooring or polyurea coating stops water and moisture from entering therein, thus offering drier floors that look clean and shining. Once you are done with the flooring, it will be good to have shelves and cabinets, which apart from offering practical solution to storage needs, add to the dcor of the garage. Once a home owner has a functional and clean garage they don’t use valuable interior space for storage. Now a home owner can have a smaller efficient interior space with a well organized garage that is remodeled inexpensively.

A Closer Look At Persian Rugs

by Misty Stutter

Perhaps one of the most beautiful rugs on the market is the ever famous Persian rug. These rugs are known for not only their beauty but also for their longevity. These rugs are handmade, that includes the dyes that are placed into the fibers to change the colors. With the addition of a Persian rug in a room you will make any room look elegant.

The Persian rug came from what is now Iran, being made well over half a millennium ago for the first time. At that time it was not called a Persian rug, but a carpet, a Payryk. Though not the same as today’s Persians still these carpets had an amazing 232 knots per inch.

Business boomed for the next millennium and, by the 16th century, much change had happened in the preferences of carpet buyers in the region. Depictions on carpets grew fewer and rarer, with more buyers preferring to get abstract and geometric patterns instead. The best known Persian carpet, the classical style Ardabil, came from this period and featured a radial arabesque design and a poetic inscription.

Size is a very important factor for Persian rugs, and a formal convention is used for them. Qalicheh are those rugs that measure up to six feet by four feet, while Qalii is anything larger than the Qalicheh dimensions. A separate class, Kilim, is used for rugs produced by nomadic groups that live between Southeast Europe and Pakistan.

These rugs come with different types of layouts and designs. Though it’s not really know what the different motifs mean, since there are many interpretations. It is known that the patterns come in either a centered look, one side will have a image, or the image will be all over the Persian.

The weaving of the Persian rug can be a very long process, and one that can take up to years, depending on what size of rug. They are all started by the same process though, this is when wefts will be passed in between a warp, which will than form a base or bottom to the rug. As the process is continued colored knots that are lose will be threaded into those warps. The finished product is a beautiful rug that stands second to none. In the modern Persian rugs there can be up to 550 knots in every square inch.

At present, the old industry of making Persian rugs is still a booming business. $420 million worth of carpets were exported in 2008 alone, amounting to 1% of the country’s overall exports. About 1.2 million weavers in Iran alone are thought to be actively producing new carpets, so there shouldn’t be any risk of running out soon.

A Persian rug is a classic look that can pretty much fit into any decor, adding a touch of elegance and a wonderful look to your home. These rugs have been around for years and will be for years more, add one into your home today.
